Next build
The next problem worth the trouble — still a spark. When it's real enough to name, it'll show up here.
Labs is where Larkwin's own products and tools take shape — from first prototype to something people rely on. We build for the friction we feel ourselves, and for the community we're part of.
Larkwin Labs is our workshop — the place we build our own products and tools, not client work. We start with a problem we actually feel, build the smallest thing that proves it, and put it in real hands to learn. If it earns its keep, it stays.
It's deliberately a little rough around the edges. Labs is where we get to experiment, follow a hunch, and build in the open — close to the people a thing is meant to serve, including ourselves.
Labs is a playground on purpose — but a disciplined one. These keep the experiments honest.
We build for friction we hit ourselves. If it doesn't bug us, we won't care enough to finish it. // no solutions in search of a problem
The leanest version that answers the real question. We'd rather learn this week than plan all quarter.
Rough edges and all. Showing the work beats polishing in private — feedback early is worth more than a clean reveal.
A real user beats a good guess. We put things in hands early and let that steer what happens next. // or what gets dropped
Not every spark makes it to the end — and that's the point. Each stage has to earn the next.
A problem worth the trouble — usually one we've felt firsthand.
The smallest build that proves the idea is real, fast.
In real hands, with real use steering what comes next.
Something dependable people come back to — and we keep.

A lens for fiction authors
Turns a sprawling story world into canon an author can trust — characters, timeline and plot threads in one place — and quietly surfaces the gaps and contradictions before readers do. A lens into the world, not database software.
The next problem worth the trouble — still a spark. When it's real enough to name, it'll show up here.
Labs isn't a closed door. If a problem overlaps with what we care about, there's room to build it together.
If you're solving something that helps the place we live and work — Waterloo Region and beyond — we want to hear about it.
When your problem overlaps with ours, we'll pilot or co-build a tool alongside you rather than from a distance.
Tell us what you'd build.
